Suicide as a Public Realtions Tool

Letter to the Editor from Peter F. Lacques in San Rafael after the article about the suicides at Guantanamo Bay:

"The Official response to the three suicides at Guatanamo Bay has been truly horrific.
Rear Admiral Harry Harris, commander of Guantanamo Bay Detention Center, characterized these suicides as "an act of asymetrical warfare waged against us". Colleen Graffy, deputy assistant secretary of State for public diplomacy called it a "good public relations move and a tactic to further the jihadi cause".
If, as these officials contend, the suicides were indeed an act of war and good public relations moves, then perhaps Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld should kill themselves to more effectively prosecute their war in Iraq and improve
public relations.
After all, public suypport for both the war and GWBush have reached an all time low and clearly a change in tactics is warranted.
Their suicides could send a strong message of resolve and determination to the rest of the world, especially if Condoleeza Rice were to join them. This could be the bold move to truly turn the tide in Iraq, as well as global public opinion in favor of the USA. Given how freely and willingly they have sacrificed so many other people's lives, I'm sure Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice would cheerfully see their suicides as a small price to pay in the war on terrorism."

Only in this paranoid and war thirsty country could we take the "enemy's" suicide as an attack.
